Excitement at Sea
Wayne and I are back from our family cruise, and to say we had a grand time would downplay how fabulous it was. Can you imagine 14 of us all aboard the same ship?
Our one bit of excitement happened while at sea. The captain’s voice came over the loud speaker system and assured us all was well. Frankly, we didn’t know there was a problem, which immediately had us wondering what had gone wrong. His announcement was followed by a huge plume of black smoke that shot up into the air. Hmmm . . . now that was interesting! Almost immediately all power ceased. We went dead in the water, and the room went dim, while Wayne and I tried to remember where the lifejackets were stored and exactly where our muster station was situated. About thirty minutes later the lights flickered back on, and the same calm, reasonable voice of our captain returned to assure us all was well once again.
And all is certainly well here in Florida. I’m back to writing today, rested and refreshed.
