Inspiring Stories
I meet the most amazing people during my signings and hear some wonderful stories. Sue, one of the women in line in Reno last Friday night, relayed to me this inspiring story. Sue was in line at her local grocery when she overhead that the woman ahead of her did not have enough money to pay for all her groceries. Inspired by my book, ONE SIMPLE ACT, Sue decided to make up the difference. In addition to that, because Sue thought the mother looked frazzled, she had the clerk add some chocolate, too!
Also at the same signing was a very tall man. As you might imagine, I don’t get a lot of men waiting to see me. As it turned out, that morning he had read his Guideposts Devotional, which happened to contain a devotional I had written. When he walked into his local Wal-Mart that evening and saw the name of the person who had written that day’s devotional, he had to stop in and see what I was all about. Bless his heart, he bought a book for a friend. I am humbled by the warmth I receive when I visit with readers!
To put the crowning touch on the day, the store manager made me an honorary employee of Wal-Mart, with my own lanyard and badge!
