Are we authors or are we radio personalities?

What many of you don’t know is that I nearly gave up writing for a career in radio. I’d been doing a radio show with my friend Linda Lael Miller every Friday afternoon. We loved it. We had so much fun. Our segment got to be so popular we were approached to do a national show. We would be test marketed in four major cities and depending on how well we did, there was the possibility we would be syndicated. What a great opportunity, right? Linda and I certainly thought so. We put together three show ideas and about half way through the next questions started to surface. “Are we authors or are we radio personalities?” It was a hard question. Although I loved being on the radio, I loved writing more. As hard as it was, we turned down this opportunity. I, for one, haven’t regretted it for a minute.

Glad you made the choice you did. I love all your books. My garage looks like a library. We ran out of shelf space in the house so built shelves in the garage. We keep adding shelves as they fill up quickly. Keep up the good work.

So happy I found this site.. I will never give up my copy of One Perfect Word Miss Debbie 🙂 Have follow this plan for the last 3 years and have been amazed where it has taken me.. This year I was troubled by my word and then was impressed to add a second one while not losing the first. I really struggled with that first one but couldn’t move on until I began to see an understanding come poking through.. Now I’ve embraced them
both and am loving it …
Thanks

Hi Debbie,
Wow, to be so talented and blessed by God to have a choice between two careers is such an opportunity. So many of us have a talent, but are held back either by financial difficulties or the anxiety of just trying to do something new in life.
I am glad you chose to write, as you were then given a larger audience of the world to reach with your voice and thoughts in the characters you have created in your books….you are literally the Angel that God sent to help reach us and get us through our good and bad days….so often, getting lost in the solace of a book can calm the mind, and sooth the heart.

Hi Debbie,
Wow, you were so lucky to have been able to chose between two careers. So often people aren’t given a choice, because of either financial obligations or because they suffer uncontrollable anxiety whenever they try to encounter a new experience.
I think you are the Angel that God chose to help the ‘anxious’ to make it through a difficult day. So often the ‘anxious’ may be wishing to be outside, but the pressure of anxiety keeps them confined indoors. But lesson learned, it seems that for some, once they begin to read your novel, a calming comes over them, and a chapter or so later, comes the urge to be outside. And so, book in hand, here they sit on their porch, enjoying the fresh air, seeing the wind stir the trees, hearing the laughter of children playing and all while continuing to enjoy the adventures of the characters you’ve created in your novels.
So, for all of those who have these ‘anxious’ days, I say to you “Thank you for choosing to write, the escape into the fresh air and the world of reality is beautiful.”
PS: I am totally enjoying your new novel “A Girls Guide To Moving On.”

You are my favorite author. When I get a new book by you I sit down and read every last page. I have been a reader my whole 78 years and you are my best author. Your stories are so true to life and they actually tell stories. Just finished girls guide to moving on. I only hope you have many
More stories to tell. Ivan hardly wait until August when a new one comes out. Thank you so much for sharing with us.

Hi
I am listening to the audio of christmas in Cedar Cove with your story of the Ruth and Helen her grandmother. That would make such a great movie!!! Have you been approached yet for that? Also are podcasts of the radio show available? I would to listen to them! thanks for being such a great author/story teller!
