Sharing the Love on Valentine’s Day
Everyone thinks that just because I write romances that I have the most romantic husband in the world. Well, that is just not true.
He tries, he sincerely tries though. There was one Valentine’s Day that he was building a plane in our basement. As he was working on the aircraft, he said his biggest fear was that he would have to land the plane quickly while we were flying so I could use the bathroom. And so, for that Valentine’s Day, he got me a portable urinal! When a friend asked what he had gotten for me, he simply said, “you can’t love a woman more than that!”
A little after that I took over planning our Valentine’s Day excursions! And while I did it because I wanted to take the pressure off of him, it also gave me another way to show love for my husband.
One year we went to fancy restaurant which happened to be close the sports center—and the Sonics were in town. So, after a wonderful dinner, we enjoyed a Sonics basketball game. It was perfect. I had what I wanted and he had what he wanted. We had both the romance the fun that year and the best part of all is that we were together, my Valentine and me.

That is why men write Westerns and women write Romance novels! We put so much pressure on them, so Debbie, like you, I plan something we will both enjoy and get his opinion and ok and we have a great time!

Sometimes men’s idea of romance is so out there but at least they put some effort into it. Just gotta love them for that. Some men never even say I love you so enjoy their effort if there is one.Happy ? valentine’s day.

My husband and I work different shifts so planning an activity can be difficult for us
THIS year he listened to me and gave me the best present this year. He listened to me. , After working all day our six year old and I came home to find the dishes done and the kitchen floor mopped.

My husband and I don’t do much for Valentine’s Day. He almost always works the holiday. I like to sneak a little love note in with his lunch and have a nice dinner ready for when he gets home.
This year, he has been battling the flu. He worked a 12-hour shift (they couldn’t find coverage, so he had to work while sick). I sent him with Mucinex, Emergen-C, and cough drops. By the time he got home, he barely had enough energy to get through dinner, I gave him some Nyquil and he was down for the count. Poor sweetie.
He doesn’t say the words “I Love You” (I first heard the actual words from him on our wedding day), but he shows me how much he loves me each and every day. Those three words have never been important; the actions associated with a lifetime of love and understanding are, and he has those in spades.
I consider myself truly blessed to have Brett in my life.

My husband and I love sharing the love that God gave us…and both of you!

I loved your story about the urinal your husband got you for Valentine’s day! My husband got me a Porta Potty one Valentines Day so I wouldn’t have to venture out of our camper to the park facilities at night.
You were my inspiration to write and your books were read and reread by me. I became an author with my novel ” Without Consent ” because I learned how to write from reading your books. Thank You, Debbie.

I love your books and always have some on hand even to read again and again. Sometimes our gifts to each other are…handy things. He likes to build things of wood so one time I gave him a sander because “I” got tired of sanding his projects by hand. He too has given me some weird things over the years. My husband of 55 years and I share cards now – some funny & some romantic. But we mostly just enjoy being with each other. Happy Valentine’s Day to you both and for all the years to come .

My husband and I will be celebrating 52 wonderful years together on 2/19/18, so that is our Valentine to each other – our commitment to each other from the beginning. This year he gave me a bouquet of red roses in a beautiful vase and a heart shaped box of chocolates. His thoughtfulness goes a long way – just having him share his life with me is my Valentine! He’s very thoughtful all the time!

Wow. Although a potable urinal is not romantic it is huge. What man would be concerned about his wife so much about
going to the bathroom? All I had was an ex boyfriend if fifteen years, who would get annoyed or get really angry
with me due to my IBS, and irregular bathroom habits.
Bless your husband. I am on my own, and do not look forward to old age alone.

Debbie,
I have read many of your books for last several years and they are so enjoyable and hard to put down before reading them all the way to the end! Thank you.
Reading over the some of the last entries my husband of 37 years got me a racheting screwdriver for Valentine’s Day this year! He is very protective of his tools, so it was a great to have my own!
He’s not the romantic type, but is thoughtful.
I am so sorry that your husband is ill and read that he is in Hospice
I will be thinking of you both, and your family.
