Visiting the Real Cedar Cove
In the summer, Port Orchard gets visitors who come into town to see the real Cedar Cove and I sometimes have occasion to meet them. Often when they first meet me they are a bit hesitant. I want my readers to know that I’m friendly. If you expect me to look like my publicity photo you might be in for a shock. Okay, on a good day there’s a resemblance. Unfortunately, make-up artists and hairdressers don’t usually follow me around to enhance my look. One of the most frequent comments is, “I thought you’d be taller.” Trust me, I wish I was, too. One nice thing is that rarely does anyone say, “Oh, I thought you’d be thinner.” Thank you.

I think my next one is The Rose Harbor series I love the characters and I can see the bed & breakfast and the rose garden My one question would be why must a story end? I remember seeing you and thinking, “is that Debbie Macomber? Here, in Italy, just feet from me?” That was really a fun moment on my trip! A lasting memory. Thank you again for your kindness.

Thanks for wrapping up the series the way you did. The last book was wonderful! I won’t say anything more in case someone hasn’t read it yet, but wow, it was worth the wait.
Blessings!

Hi Debbie,
I’d love to see the real Cedar Cove but unfortunately, I live in Massachusetts. Too far to go to see some of my favorite places from the Cedar Cove series and The Rose Harbor series. Is Blossom Street there too? Love them all but since they can’t go on forever, I await the next one. Also love the Angels series. Hope that one’s not over yet.

Walking around town I could see all the resemblances almost expected to see some of the characters around town! The only thing that would of made it better would of been to meet you! I did get to acquire an autographed copy of your Come Home to Color, the lady just brought them down into the yarn shop when I got there. Hope someday to visit there again!

August 16th, 2016 at 3:58 pm
I so enjoyed our visit when I met you in the Yard Shop and had visited with Jody in the gift shop. It was a few summers ago and we had also lost our son in 2010. I didn’t tell you about it but knew it was almost about 1 year before after sharing some with Jody. We visited took some pictures and you signed some of you post card for me to send to some of my friends and my 80 year old aunt. (You shared you photo tip of swallowing before the picture is taken…LOL). I took them across the street to mail the off to those special people. Good memories of that day. And I think you look fine! We are both short and compact…Your friend, Nancy

One of your awesome Waitresses at the Tea Room showed me how to catch the bus back to town and she rode with me. I was a little tired when I got up there, but it was worth every minute spent there.

Dear Debbie
I have enjoyed your many wonderful
Stories for a long time now.
My granddaughter and I took a road trip
A few years ago from Medical Lake to
Colville to meet you. It was a thrill to
See the my favorite author.
If I had to pick a favorite series, I think
It would be the Cedar Cove Series.
I would love to one day visit there,
Maybe I will. Keep on writing. ???
August 16th, 2016 at 4:27 pm
Well, I recently learned that I read the Rose Harbor series out of order, so I started all over again and I have 50 pages to read in Silver Linings. Then I can start your latest release! Love this series as much as Cedar Cove. Thanks for always giving us a way to “get away from it all”.
August 16th, 2016 at 4:45 pm
I love all your books. Having lived in both Bremerton and Gig Harbor,
I am very familiar with the real Cedar Cove.
Knowing the area makes the books more real.
I would not want to be asked my favorite series.
Each book is my favorite when I read it.
I even enjoy rereading the books.
August 16th, 2016 at 5:10 pm
I love your books, and would one day love to visit “Cedar Cove” Port Orchard, it is on my bucket list. I love that you bring a real place to life with your characters. I haven’t been able to read some of your new books as I am still reading some of the older books. I love your Angels, and of course Cedar Cove. Working on getting to Rose Harbor soon. I hope when I do make it up there, I will get a chance to meet you. Please keep writing those wonderful stores. I am also sorry the Cedar Cove series ended. Loved the show. Andie MacDowell was great choice for Olivia.
August 16th, 2016 at 5:24 pm
I got my first “Debbie” book at a yard sale for 25 cents. Been hooked on your books ever since. I collect Danielle Steele, Nora Roberts, Fern Michaels, and Nichols Sparks books. Then along came the “Debbie” books, Became my favorite author. Had to buy a new book shelve to hold only your books. I recently moved and could not take my books with me. So with tears in my eyes, I donated all my books to a Senior Living Apartment complex’s library. But… I will continue to buy your books, and keep donating. You are an amazing writer. Love to get a new “Debbie” book.

Hi Debbie, I remember when I read my first Cedar Cove book. I thought to myself how much it reminded me of m home town of Port Orchard…well duh. You surely captured it!
I’ve since moved back to Port Orchard after moving around the Western US for 22 yrs and am delighted, even though it has changed, to now see thru your stories that it’s still the same as it ever was.
Thank you,
Your hometown girl,
Sheryl

Oh Debbie! Your self-depreciating humor is so not needed! I think I would recognize you just by your aura of goodness and light! Silly lady! I have really enjoyed the series via Netflix and so sad to know it was short lived… when I am watching, as happy as I am to watch it, it makes me really miss living in the GREAT Pacific Northwest!

August 16th, 2016 at 6:20 pm
You inspired me to write a series of novels (historical fiction) based on people who once lived in a village once occupied by the American Navy during World War 11. Thank you for your inspiration.
August 16th, 2016 at 6:36 pm
Debbie I so love your books – the Cedar Cove series – I wish it was finished – loved the show too. I love the Rose Harbour series as well. I am sorry to hear you are not continuing that one either. I also read the Texas ones, the Alaska ones, and the Dakota ones loved them too. Not into knitting so did not follow Blossom Street and have read a few Christmas ones. I would love to visit the real Cedar Cove . I would have loved to take part in the Cedar Cove days a few years ago. Unfortunately I live in Eastern Canada. New Brunswick.

I met my favorite author whom seems like a dear friend. Turning Port Orchid was a thrill meeting and visiting with you was a thrill words can not express.
You look WONDERFUL and happen to be perfect inside and out. I have the picture we made that day on my desktop so I can remember that day. When I see it pop up several times a day. It warms my heart and makes me smile.

You are by far the best author I have ever read. When I hit the lottery, my first trip is to come to Port Orchard.
That is such a beautiful place. Very peaceful. Just sit on the porch and read your books. ???

Still plan to read your new novels !
August 16th, 2016 at 9:51 pm
Debbie I love your books. I grew up and moved away from Port Orchard and it always brings me back home. My last few visits home to see the parents I’ve stayed at the Inn. Just love the peace and tranquility it brings me. You may not remember but your daughter and I were friends when I was younger – we’d sit in her bedroom and sing Whitney Houston songs.
I’ve tried to catch you both at the tea room on my last visit home. So far no luck.
May God continue to bless you and your family. You were a wonderful “friends” mom back in the day and I’m sure it still holds true as a grandmother today.
August 16th, 2016 at 9:53 pm

The one question I have is why do you refer to an ambulance as an Aid car just curious. Thank you for your stories.

Debbie,
Love, love, love your books. Please keep writing so I can keep meeting new and charming characters in the most interesting ways. Loved the Cedar Cove series on Hallmark and wish they would have continued as there was so much more to tell. Stay healthy and happy!

We loved our time at the Cedar Cove Inn. I put all the pictures into a Shutterfly book. Wish I could show it to you! I too love your books- have over 90 of them! I am the one that met you in San Antonio and our picture was in the newspaper. Blessings!

You are my favorite author of all times. I have read most of your books as well as the much earlier stories. Now, I am rereading your series and thoroughly enjoy them the second time around as I did the first time. Thank you for keeping me so entertained.

Hi Debbie, My husband and I moved from California to Port Orchard in 2014. We lived there for one year and fell in love with the beauty of the area. Loved meeting you at your Tea Room brunch. So happy to hear that most of your fans are hesitant when they first see you. I too just stared I seeing you sitting at your desk, when I walked into your office with my cousins. We had just spent the night at The Cedar Cove Inn. I am not sure if we had lunch at your tea house before or after our visit with you. What a great day that was for me. Meeting your daughter in your gift shop put the day over the top. Thank you for the wonderful memory! Sad to be reading the last of the Rose Harbor series.

Love your books especially the Rose Harbor series. So hard to put down and get the house in order. I have read most of your books. Can’t wait for anew one.

So thankful I live just on the other side of Cedar Cove. It truly is amazing here. I found your books while living in Maryland and homesick for Washington. I never imagined I’d be living so close to Cedar Cove!

I loved my visit to Cedar Cove Inn with friends a few years ago. It is a lovely bed and breakfast. Hosts were so friendly and welcoming. Sorry we didn’t see you Debbie when visiting. Keep writing. You have a gift.

Huge fan. I did get to meet you a few years ago in the yarn shoppe during Cedar Cove Days. You signed my book and had my picture taken with you. A cherished memory. Thank you.

I have enjoyed all your books and like many others I do retread them. Not sure if I have a
Favorite one. Have enjoyed the Dakota collection, Montana, Blossom street and of course
Cedar Cove. Read all of those before show aired. Sadly someone canceled the show.
Next time I’m in Seattle visiting grandkids and my son I need to check out the inn.
Thank you for giving me new friends on paper.

Debbie, I think you photo you showed us standing by the Cedar Cove sign is a very beautiful you. It is too bad publicity photos are so un-natural and touched up. (make-up perfect, etc) You are truly a talent and just as beautiful inside.
Love,
Joan

Thank you so much for all the books you have written. I love both The Cedar Cove and the Rose Harbour series. Also, The Midnight Sons. Actually, all of your books!
You are able to “hook” the reader right from the beginning! The way you build the characters, makes them family.
I hope someday to visit your lovely town of Port Orchard, aka Cedar Cove. I love the beauty of the ocean and mountains, it’s breath taking!!
Keep writing, and I’ll keep reading!

I loved and love all your books, especially Cedar Cove series. If I could visit the place one day, I wouldn’t hesitate to go there.

Debbie,
I appreciate your talent in character development. My favorite series will probably always be Blossom Street because that is the first time I read one of your books. I had moved in with my mom to take care of her so she could stay in her home as she went through her last final battle with Cancer. My sister loaned me the book that had been loaned to her by her friend Joy. It was a sweet time for me to be with my mom through those final months of her days so Blossom Street is a part of that sweet memory.

I have just finished reading Sweet Tomorrows and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My son lives in Bremerton, WA and I’ve had the opportunity to drive through Port Orchard. In one paragraph of the book it mentions the Bremerton Shipyard and the character Nick. I had to send a picture of that to my son as his name is Nick. He found it very coincidental. I have been reading your books for many years and recently got my mom hooked on them as well. We both love them! Keep on writing!!

Just love all of your books–so wholesome–and refreshing in this day and age! Thanks so much, keep writing and I would love the opportunity to meet you in Florida during the winter. We are in Deltona from Dec. thru April. Peg

I just finished reading Sweet Tomorrows and I absolutely loved it!!! That very same day I went online and ordered 5 more of your books. I really didn’t read many romance novels until I started reading your Rose Harbor series and now I’m hooked!!!

My husband and I are planning a trip to the Seattle area September 10 -18, 2016. I was so excited to see that there really is a Yarn shop called, “A Good Yarn”. I am a late bloomer in reading your books, but now that I’ve started, I can’t seem to stop and not that I want to. Your books grab me and won’t let go until I reach for the next one. A great thing about your books is that even though many of them are in a series, the stories stand alone (should the next one in the series is not available right away).
What are your store hours and is your shop open on Sunday? I’ve been knitting for about 57 years and I would love to meet you and share knitting tales. I can only hope you are there when we get to your store.

I got a late start in reading . I hadn’t read since High School. I was introduced to your books by my sister. That sure started my mind to liking to read again..So…I am getting a late start in catching up with everyone and not always reading the newer ones. I loved the Cedar Cove and Blossom Street Series. I hope that you keep on sharing for a very long time. You have such a wonderful talent. I want to be able to visit to meet you, the Cedar Cove Inn, the yarn Shop and the Tea Room. I want to see the whole town. Maybe I will win sometime to stay at the Cedar Inn. I wish I like to knit. I just crochet. So..I want to buy some of your yarn.
