Barbara Bush Tribute

I’m wearing pearls today in honor of Barbara Bush. As the Bush family gathers to celebrate the wonderful life she lived, I wanted to reflect on the impact she had on me. Twice in the last few years I was honored to be part of literacy events that were sponsored by Barbara and her family.
She was an exemplary woman who I greatly admired for her devotion to family, her faith and generosity. Here are a few quotes from Barbara Bush that will forever resonate with me. Her legacy lives on in the morals that she so instilled in the hearts of many in our nation and with the over 50 million dollars she has raised towards literacy.
“Your success as a family, our success as a society, depends not on what happens in the White House but on what happens inside your house.”
“I know there is a great God, and I’m not worried”
“Some people give time, some money, some their skills and connections, some literally give their life’s blood. But everyone has something to give.”
“I married the first man I ever kissed. When I tell this to my children, they just about throw up.”

Thank you for the memories of the literacy legacies. I have just seen her casket loaded in to the hearse on CNN live broadcast as i read your words. The motorcade is just moving off now. 5.39 am Sunday morning here in New Zealand and so worth staying up all night to see it!! What an example to us all about Faith Family and Friends.

Barbara Bush touched me very much, and I too will wear my pearls in honor of what a wonderful person she was and is! My husband and I lost our son to leukemia at five years old so I feel a close bond with her.

She lived her life with much grace and dignity, and an undeniable sense of humor. I had the pleasure of meeting Barbara once while my husband served with the Secret Service Counter Sniper. Sending prayers for Former President George Bush and the Bush family.

Thank you Debbie for this beautiful post. The Bush family sets the bar high for family. May we each reflect on how we can touch others as she has and will continue to do for generations to come.

I am happy our country had the example Barbara Bush and President Bush. In her loss we remember this wonderful woman and her husband, our 41st President. And now in light of last nights news I pray for him.
I so closely relate to what the Bush family is going through. My parents were married 70 years and we lost them both last month within 23 days of each other. It gives me great peace to know they are in heaven together.
Concern and prayers for the Bush Family as they go through this difficult period. May all the beautiful memories sustain them.

I just loved Barbara Bush though I never met her in person. She was such a role model to women. A wonderful wife, a strong woman, a loving but firm mother and she respected everyone. She led by example. I love that you wore your pearls to honor her. Perhaps we should all do that more often…maybe mother’s day.
