Thanksgiving
<< All ArticlesA few years back I happened upon a journal I wrote when our children were young. We were a one income family, struggling to make ends meet. The journal was a spiral bound notebook with the wire half unwound. It was all we could afford. I got chills as I read the first entry.

Since the greatest desire of my life is to . . . somehow. Some way. Become a writer, I’ll start with the pages of this journal.
When I wrote those words, I could never have imagined what God had in store for me. He has done above and beyond anything I could ever have dreamed or imagined. As our family gathers around the table this Thanksgiving, I am reminded again of God’s goodness, of the blessing and the abundance He has brought into my life. My family. My friends. My faith. And you, my wonderful readers.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Debbie

God is good…..all the time! This Thanksgiving was the anniversary of the loss of my father-in-law in 1999. That Thanksgiving was a celebration due to 20 years of heart disease; then, him going home to the Lord by having a stroke early that Thanksgiving morning – his favorite holiday. Both his sons took after him with the heart disease. This Thanksgiving, my husband, the oldest son, spent the holiday in the hospital with chest pressure. (They admitted him due to his history of 3 MIs, 1996, age 39; then a CABG x 5, 2001, age 44.) No one wanted to take any chances. On Friday, the Cardiologist told us we could go home; then return this week once a Cath was scheduled or he had the time to perform it that day; it was up to us. We chose to have the Cath that morning. Within 40 min, the Cardiologist was telling me that my husband had 2 arteries blocked at 90% & 99%. These were 2 out of the 5 grafts from 2001. They were unblocked with one long stent, without having to go thru a 2nd open heart surgery. This was truly a wonderful Thanksgiving & a celebration of the memory of his dad. I receive so much inspiration from reading your books & thank the Lord for the gift he has given you as an author. Even though we have never met, I feel a connection to you every time I read one of your books. Thank you for sharing your “gift of writing” with all of us & may He continue to bless you & your family. Yes, God is good…..all the time!

Dearest Debbie, I sit here in wonder, looking out this Christmas Window and cannot believe it has been a wonderful 32 years of reading and loving every one of your books. They have always been a special time in the evening prior to sleep to read and settle down with a good book. I thank you for introducing me to a world of wonder and character relationships thru reading. I wish you and your family a glorious and blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas Season. Sharon
