2016 Goals Worksheet
Happy 2016! I’m heading to Florida to meet up with Wayne. I delayed my annual departure to our winter home to welcome our new grandson, Mason Dale Mihai Macomber, who arrived December 30th. (He arrived in time to be a tax deduction!)
I’ve already started working on my goals for this upcoming year. I’m fanatical about goals. I believe that once we write down our future plans our subconscious starts working to make them happen. My worksheet is available here for anyone who is interested. The worksheet has served me well through the years and I encourage you to give it a try. One of my goals is to start knitting from the abundance of my yarn stash. I’ll report back on how well I’m doing!

Thanks for sharing. Will use.

That means not buying any more yarn, right? I started using my stash this past year and it’s amazing how many different things you can make but I always end up needing more white. Good luck with this goal. I love your books and have read almost all of them.
January 5th, 2016 at 6:24 pm
Thanks for sharing, Debbie, and I will definitely use this!
For the past half a dozen years or so I’ve had the same goal – finish revising/editing my first novel (don’t let my fear of failure win) and get it out there, whether I publish traditionally or self publish. And to get back into my writing habit!! Too many years have gone by where this goal has fallen flat. I vow in 2016 I follow through and with the help of your goals worksheet, I’m hoping to achieve my goals!!!
Thanks again!

I started writing a book two and a half years ago. For fun I took a creative writing class and the professor and my fellow students encouraged me to write the book. It should have been published already but I chose the wrong editor/publisher and she jacked me around. So I’m starting over and hope to have it completed by the end of June. You are an inspiration and I will not give up on my dreams. Enjoy your time in Florida. ??

Thank you Debbie for this worksheet. I try every year and have not completely succeeded yet. But 2016 is another year and another chance. I am the director of a small, rural library in northeast PA and I make sure that all of your books grace our shelves. Your writing is completely refreshing and talks about everyday life and what matters the most. God bless you and your family in this new year!
January 5th, 2016 at 6:26 pm
I SET GOALS EVERY YEAR BUT I LOVE YOUR WORKSHEET AND WILL DEFINITLEY USE IT IN THE COMING YEAR. I HOPE YOU ARE GOING TO DO A BOOK SIGNING WHILE YOU ARE DOWN IN FLORIDA, WOULD LOVE TO MEET YOU.

I have never been one to set goals but you have inspired me to do so this year. I am looking forward to seeing the results.
January 5th, 2016 at 6:39 pm
Great idea. I am going to use it. Thanks.
January 5th, 2016 at 6:45 pm
Opened my mail this morning and found Goals Worksheet
This I am going to start today.
Thank you Debbie for all your wonderful books. My word for 2016 is going to be PRAISE. I told you in a e-mail that our son David had cancer. We PRAISE GOD for our son.
January 5th, 2016 at 6:47 pm
Thank you for that ‘insightful’ & soulful message on Goals. It truly touched me as this has been heavy on my mind and heart this year. God bless.
January 5th, 2016 at 6:57 pm
Thanks for sharing. I have never set goals but because of your post I will this year. Hopefully I will get more done. Have a great year, Debbie, I love your books.
January 5th, 2016 at 6:57 pm
I have never had a goal work sheet and will use this one.
Thank you so much. This should stretch my mind and give
me something to work on all year..
Sincerely
Kay

To stop procrastinating on projects. First project making a memory book for my sister, and two boys. Our son, Anthony Blum, died in a school van along with driver who was also a coach. Students were also injured. This accident occured in 2012, and I feel enough time has gone by. Want to make memory books for family. If you have any ideas how to make this book not said –by happy let me know. Another thing I procrastinate about is —get rid of things, i.e. old clothes, items, etc.
January 5th, 2016 at 7:01 pm
This sounds like a wonderful idea. A great way to start some new beginnings. Thank You!!
January 5th, 2016 at 7:05 pm
I believe I will find this form to really helpful. What a good idea! Last year, instead of making a ‘resolution’, I decided I would be still and listen to that still small voice, aka, the Holy Spirit. It has really helped me so much in 2015 and I will aspire to continue to do this more and more. Leaving things in God’s Hands is the best way to live. Listening to Him through the Holy Spirit, His Word, and His songs, also helps us all tremendously.
January 5th, 2016 at 7:08 pm
When reading your comments about a word, I decided on a word because it jumped out at me. My word for the year is goals. I think I can accomplish a lot with this word.
January 5th, 2016 at 7:13 pm
I hope this will be helpful to me personally because I recently retired and am trying to find new challenges for myself and finish various craft/home projects. You don’t realize how ingrained you are to a daily work routine until that pattern in your life has changed. Thank you providing this worksheet!
January 5th, 2016 at 7:21 pm
Thank you Debbie. I seriously needed this.
January 5th, 2016 at 7:21 pm
Thank you Debbie. Will use.
January 5th, 2016 at 7:23 pm
Thank you for the goal page. My one word is grateful. Within the word grateful I hope to find peace and a positive attitude. As the Casting Crown song says, my lifes not falling apart, it’s falling into place. Gods placing it how he wants it, and my job is to be grateful and have a positive outlook. Everyone says pray, tell your wants to God. For 10 years I’ve been asking God to bring back my daughter. Then in 2015 I decided my word would be listen, and I gave her to God. Within a week I received an email from her saying, stop looking for me, I’m now clean and sober, I’m married, and have 3 kids that Will never be your grandchildren. The realization of the answer God gave me left me sad and grieving. It’s time now to put my life in order the way God wants it to be and be grateful for all the beauty, and fabulous people in my life which will lead me to being positive. While I was pregnant with my second child, the child that is now gone from my life, a lady said to me remember God gives us children but doesn’t tell us how long we get to keep them. That encounter has really been on my mind, and I realize that was a message from God, that I should have listened to 10 years ago.
May God bless you and your family
Jennie

I love your worksheet, I look forward to using it. Love it, thanks for your inspiration!! I love what my twin sister shared when she was going through chemo (she is 1 1/2 years cancer free!) “God has allowed it how can He be glorified?” I love that. I also like what Pam Farrel shares in her book “Fantastic After 40”, “Give God time to make it good!” Great encouragement to trust in God! I pick a word each year as well and am still praying about it, when I know it I’ll share!!! And may this year bring you abundant JOY! Love and BIG blessings! Linda T. from heartandkeeper.blogspot.com

Thanks for the free worksheet. You are always “on top” of these things every year! Does Wayne ever do it also? I’m curious, do you think it’s wise to share this or just keep it to ourselves (once it’s completed)? The only friends I have right now are my husband & my teenage son. I’ve lost many over the years due to dealing w/chronic pain and not being able to be very social.
I agree about the yarn stash! I crochet & should restrain myself from getting more!
Congrats on the new angel in the family!
Enjoy FL!

Hi Debbie,
I love love love your books, but I also love crocheting and knitting every spare moment I have. I have more yarn in my home than maybe in some stores.
Congrats on your new grandson.
Health, peace and joy always.

Love it! I plan to use it and share it with my friends and family!
Can it be personalized. I don’t want to make goals for Debbie!
January 5th, 2016 at 8:34 pm
Thank you for sharing this worksheet. I very much enjoyed visiting The Victorian Tea Room in 2014 ( a long time goal), the atmosphere was lovely and the food was delicious! One of my goals for 2016 is also to knit from my stash.
January 5th, 2016 at 8:39 pm
Debbie, I need help with one of your recipes. I was making your German Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies in a Jar this morning and discovered that there was no “oatmeal” listed in the ingredients. Nor how much of it was needed to make the recipe. Could you please check your recipe from home and see what the requirements are? I’m sure there might be other people wanting to make this cookie recipe as well, so you might want to put a note on your website for it. This one is found in your Christmas Cookbook. Thanks for your help.
January 5th, 2016 at 8:47 pm
Thanks for sharing your worksheet. I will definitely use it.
January 5th, 2016 at 8:51 pm
Congratulations on your new grandson. Talking of yarn stash. I think it might take you awhile to get through that Debbie, you have an awesome amount. Enjoy the sun and say hi to Wayne from the NZ ladies.
January 5th, 2016 at 9:08 pm
Congratulations on your grandson….another beautiful, unrepeatable gift from God…how very wonderful.
January 5th, 2016 at 10:36 pm
Thanks for the goal sheet. I believe in writing goals. When you write them down, you tend to do it. I like the idea of choosing a word for the year! Will think about that word for 2016! Sharing this with my family. We can all set goals.
January 5th, 2016 at 10:39 pm
Congrats on the newest addition to your family – grandchildren are the best. My youngest daughter will be bringing my third grandson into the world this March – they are truly what brings me the most JOY in my life.
I will also be tackling my yarn stash, only crochet is my thing. Good luck on your goals, and thanks for the worksheet and giveaways.
Can’t wait to read your newest, you’re an auto read because I know I get my money and time’s worth.
January 5th, 2016 at 10:42 pm
Hi Debbie, happy 2016! I like your worksheet, though I tend to write goals for the new year in a notebook I carry everyday. I do believe setting goals really work – years ago I wrote a list with items my daughter and I needed to get a new apartment….the very next day a woman came into my work with a problem..her daughter was ill and they were moving her home and had a lot of furniture they needed to dispose of..all my items and more needed to achieve that goal were given to us as long as we could supply the truck to move. Goals are like having a road map in life…you need goals to get anywhere and achieve the things you never thought possible. Thanks for your encouraging words and books!!!
January 5th, 2016 at 10:59 pm
Thank you, Debbie, for the great inspiration to set goals! Although my number 1 goal every year is to lose weight, this past year got me started (down 30 pounds) and I want to continue into the new year.
You’ve broadened my horizons for goal setting and I do appreciate you for that!
Congratulations on the new grandson and wish you and your family many blessings for the future as your family continues to grow!
January 5th, 2016 at 11:21 pm
Hi, Debbie! I printed up the goals worksheet, find it very helpful to sort out my ideas, while reading through it, and plan on transferring the goals aimed for in 2016, to my Helen Steiner Rice Day Runner. Thank you so much for posting such a well thought out goals worksheet.

I am going to use this year. Cause I have never set goals for myself. But going to do something different in 2016. Time for a change in my life. Thanks for sharing, Debbie Macomber.
January 5th, 2016 at 11:55 pm
Thank you…most helpful.
Congratulations on the new addition to the family!
The very best to you and yours in 2016!
January 6th, 2016 at 12:02 am
Your worksheet is very needed. Thank you.
Last year I was blessed with an abundance of yarn from a friend passing on to Jesus. God has a great sense of humor as I was grounded to my front porch due to an infected knee. Being grounded I could not just sit with my stiff knee, so I got the yarn out and completed about 150+ hats that were donated to an Indian Reservation up way north, some to a couple schools to have handy and some to a homeless shelter. God is good!
January 6th, 2016 at 12:35 am
Have read most if not all your books. Will keep reading as long as you keep writing.

Congratulations on your new grandson! Thanks for sharing your sheets of goals. I just received “Dashing Through The Snow” today and plan on reading it next week at a friend’s house where I will be visiting. I have a ‘stash’ of yarn projects that I’ve had for many years and no longer remember what I was going to knit with them. Enjoy the sunshine and have a great time…
January 6th, 2016 at 8:35 am
I tried to view your Goals Worksheet, but according to the computer I am using it is not allowed, because it has to be downloaded, which I don’t know how to do, and so….I was wondering if it was possible to get a photo copied snail mailed to me, so I may use your worksheet. My favorite series is Cedar Cove you’ve written. I don’t have cable so am not able to view hallmark that has your wonderful books turned into movies…so see your new tv series. I look forward to your new releases and am not the up-coming holds list at the library for your lastest one dueout next….I am 535 on the list. But am hoping it will arrive under 3-month since release to read. Please never stop writing. Your Friend and devoted reader, Christine.

Thank You, I will work hard on keeping my goals this year. One is to use my stash first, yarn and fabric,
and purchase only if I need a color to tie it all together. And the big one, no online shopping. The lord blessed you with wonderful Christmas present, he is always with us. Have fun in the sun.
January 6th, 2016 at 9:21 pm
Congratulations on your new grandchild.
Thankyou for the worksheet, it’s very helpful and nice. I was able to print and save it for revised copies of my list later on as it changes. This year one of my main goals is to get organized, and I believe that this will help me to do that. Especially where my being able to find work is concerned. I hope you have a Happy New Year and all through the rest of the year too. 🙂
January 8th, 2016 at 1:29 am
Wonderful happy news about your new grand baby. They do bring so much joy and happy memories.
I am taking my yarn to Florida as well. It’s one of the things I enjoy doing and sharing my work with family and friends.
My word for 2016 is dream. I am planning to put my dreams into actions that will give happiness to others and myself as well. My first dream is my children’s book. The first one is done and I am planning to write more while I am in Florida. It will be nice to have warm sunshine and visit Mickey Mouse too. Thanks Debbie for your writings. Reading them puts happiness in my life or you could say “joy” because they bring so much love and caring through the people in your stories.

Hi Debbie,
I am glad to see that on page 3 of the ‘2016 Goals Worksheet’ that the first category is ‘Spiritual Goals’. Living in line with spiritual values of gratitude, compassion and forgiveness are on my list so far.
A ‘Recreational Goal’ is to relearn how to knit. In the distant past, scarves and hats were all that I had made. I have just read that a person burns 55 calories by knitting for half an hour. That definitely is an incentive 🙂
I have read ‘Dashing Through the Snow’ and watched it on the Hallmark Channel recently and enjoyed both immensely.
Happy New Year and enjoy the Florida warmth.
January 8th, 2016 at 4:40 pm
Thank you for sharing this. It will really help me try to stay on track. I’m with you on the stash busting. Need to really work on that. Congratulations on your new grandson.
January 8th, 2016 at 7:03 pm
My goal word for 2016 is discernment.
January 9th, 2016 at 6:00 pm
“Thank you” Debbie for sharing, have just copied and adjusted for my personal use. Every year I have made a list of things to do and to-date have never really completed or finish it just carrying over the things I didn’t get done to the following year.
Perhaps this format of you list might encourage me to try harder and complete what I start!
I love all your books Cedar Cover was one of my favourite along with Blossom Street series. I’m waiting for the next book in the Rose Harbour books, you left us wondering what was going to happen at the B & B.
Thanks again and congratulations on your new grandchild.

Hi Debbie, not sure if you received my e-mail with best wishes for the holidays and congratulations for Christmas with the new Baby Mason he will be cherished by all, including us your faithful fans…Since reading your letters I have also set goals in my life and it’s my health thanks to you Debbie my daily routine getting up with a goal and focussing on what I can achieve today not always easy as fibromialga and rheumatoid is a struggle every day, God only gives us what we can handle, have read all your books + your holiday ones. If you remember me I said ” LOOK UP and count the stars and that is how much you are loved” and you responded to my letter. May God Bless you and keep you safe and healthy. Love to hear from you again.

Thank you for the newsletter! Somehow I had missed reading Last One Home and ordered it immediately. I really enjoy your books and seem to relate well to the characters. Yours were the only books I was could read (once I was able to read) after my husband died. I guess it was a focusing thing, but it took me 5 or 6 years and then I read one every weekend, pretty much. I have since widened my net of authors. #smile #lovebooks
January 13th, 2016 at 8:34 pm
Congrats on the new grandson. I printed out my worksheet and will make every effort to complete each and every goal. Sometimes we get so caught up in working and running from place to place that we don’t take time for ourselves. That is one goal I plan to keep. You enjoy Florida, I have friends there and wish I could visit now but will have to wait. Many blessings to you and your family.
January 13th, 2016 at 10:01 pm
Congrats on the new grand baby and thanks for the worksheet. It certainly will come in handy. I always seem to do better when things are black on white, even my to do lists. I love being able to scratch things off as they are completed.
January 18th, 2016 at 10:19 pm
How exciting to have a new grandbaby! Thank you for sharing your goal worksheet. I have already begun to personalize it and plan my new year. I have enjoyed reading all of your Cedar Cove, Rose Harbor, Blossom Street, and of course, the Angel series. It’s such a JOY to get the next book in the series.
EnJOY your time in the warm sun. God’s blessings to you!

Congratulations on your new grandson. Thank you so much for the goal worksheet – a great idea and I do plan to use it. Also, my word for the year is WORDS. Being sure they are always kind and not degrading to anyone. More importantly, pleasing to the Lord’s ear.
I have enjoyed ALL your books for years and always look forward to the next one – whatever series it is a part of.
Enjoy your winter months in FL, though I wish you would have chosen the Palm Springs area.
Blessings/Joy/Love ~
