Church Dinner
Our church had a wonderful kids’ program last Sunday morning after the service, followed by one of those infamous Church Dinners. We’ve gone from two services down to one for the summer, so I didn’t recognize half the people there–clearly they attend the "other" service!

Lovelorn
Bogie misses his sweetheart, which is a big stuffed bear that Wayne inadvertently left behind in our Florida home. Whenever Bogie gets a bone, he immediately takes it to his love and presents it to her. It’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen. He seemed fine without her until Wayne gave Bogie a bone last night. Jun-u-ary, 2010
I have exciting news. The sun is shining in Port Orchard!
Some of my swimming buddies have been calling our local weather Jun-u-ary, which is pretty much how it felt. After reading the comments from yesterday, I guess I really don’t have reason to complain. But it does make your heart feel lighter when there is blue sky and sunshine. And I do feel more light-hearted today! Read more
Breaking Records
It’s the first day of summer and Seattle is setting records. The problem is, it isn’t the kind of record anyone around here wants to brag about. This is the longest it has taken to reach 75 degrees in any year since the weather has been recorded. Today is overcast and cloudy. Father’s Day was rainy, overcast and more like fall than the last day of spring. I’m sure summer will arrive soon. I can only hope it will make an appearance some time this week. Read more
B Roll
I feel a little bit like a movie star getting ready to step before the camera. A film crew is here today and tomorrow to do what is known in the industry as B Roll. I’m not exactly sure, but I think "B" stands for the background footage that goes along with a story. My kids and grandkids are involved and even Bogie and Wayne are taking part. Some of the video and still shots are destined for the redesign of my website, so stay tuned for updates later on! Read more
When Work is Play!
I’m back from an incredible weekend in Columbus, Ohio, where I took part in TNNA, which stands for The National Needle Arts Association. I schmoozed with the big name knit and crochet designers and rubbed shoulders with knitting celebrities. I was there to promote the new Blossom Street yarn line that Universal Yarn is launching this August. It was supposed to be work, but I had way too much fun and really, how could I not have fun? I was with yarn people who understand the true meaning of what Lily Chin says, "Knitting is the excuse we use to ju Read more
Take Care of Your Health!
I'm back in the office after being out nearly a week with my second go-around with a sinus infection. I've learned a lot about myself this past week. First and foremost, I do not make a good patient: I'm cranky, short-tempered and demanding when I don't feel well. Thankfully, Wayne loves me anyway. Bogie, too. Mostly, I've learned to be grateful for my health.
Getting My Groove On!
There’s nothing like the smell of chlorine in the morning. Yup, I’m back in the pool, swimming with my friends. I fell right back into the groove with my laps and then power walking with my friends afterward. We walk and share recipes. I always leave hungry with ideas for dinner.

Home!
The tour for Hannah’s List is now officially over. Seventeen cities in five weeks can just about do a girl in, except that I met such wonderful, patient readers along the way. Even the book stores I visited mentioned they’d never had such a fun group of readers. Yup, no doubt about it, I’m blessed.

Diabetes Research Auction
Brenda Novak runs an on-line auction for diabetes research every year. It has been my pleasure to support her efforts for fund raising for several years. Check out her auction and see if there is anything that strikes your fancy (yes, I have an auction item!), or just plain donate, if that is your wish! http://www.brendanovak.com/auction.shtml.

A Dog’s Life
My books are going to the dogs! Traye Steele of Oklahoma City was at the May 11 signing to replace a book his dog, Winston, had eaten from his mother’s collection. His mom, Virginia Steele, is a cancer survivor. Lisa Pruitt of Bethany had me sign a book to her dog, Lola. It seems Lola has a taste for my books—so much so that she’s eaten two of them already! I couldn’t help but sign this book, “To Lola — I hope you enjoy this one as much as the others!”

Weather Show
Oklahoma City pulled out all the stops for me yesterday and brought on the most fantastic display of weather. I was greeted with twisters and hail the size of softballs. Instead of an interview with KFOR-TV, First News at 4:30 p.m. Read more
Oklahoma City
I had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend at home in Port Orchard this past weekend. I stored up all the grandkids hugs I could to last me through the end of the tour. It was so nice to just relax at home. We had gorgeous weather, too, with warm sunshine and big, fluffy clouds.

Happy Mother’s Day!
Tonight I’ll be home in Port Orchard just for the weekend. On Saturday I’ll be signing at the Gig Harbor Costco at noon and in Port Orchard at the Bethel Avenenue Book Company at 6 p.m., so do come and say Hi if you’re in the area!
Also on Saturday is the Rural Letter Carrier’s Food Drive. If you have any non-perishable food items you can share, it would be a big help to local food banks. Please give generously!

Modesto
The past two days have been amazing. So many of my readers are coming out for signings that I’m thrilled and overwhelmed with the response! One group of readers came in a bus with a sign taped on the side. I can’t recall exactly what it said, but the gist of it was “Debbie Macomber or bust!” I hope to receive a photo and will post it when I do.

Inspiring Stories
I meet the most amazing people during my signings and hear some wonderful stories. Sue, one of the women in line in Reno last Friday night, relayed to me this inspiring story. Sue was in line at her local grocery when she overhead that the woman ahead of her did not have enough money to pay for all her groceries. Inspired by my book, ONE SIMPLE ACT, Sue decided to make up the difference. In addition to that, because Sue thought the mother looked frazzled, she had the clerk add some chocolate, too!

Reno
There was a wonderful turnout at Fox Point on Wednesday. I have to say, Milwaukee is a fabulous book town! I loved seeing everyone, and special thanks to the readers who brought little gifts for Jaxon. He and his mom will love them.
I spent all day yesterday traveling. My plane was late and I had only 15 minutes to make my connection in Denver. Somehow I managed to find a bathroom AND make my flight! It was all worth it when I saw Wayne on the plane—he joined me for the last leg on our way to Reno.

Milwaukee
I left Minneapolis in high spirits after the fabulous signing at the Mall of America yesterday. Thank you to everyone who came out and joined in the fun. Today I arrived in Milwaukee with some time to spare, so my escort took me to a few book stores to sign stock AND to a yarn shop. I was so glad to visit Ruhama again, a wonderful yarn store on Silver Spring drive. The shop reminds me of my fictional store on Blossom Street, with ladies knitting and sharing, seated at a table. I was proud to give out some mini skeins of my new yarn line co Read more
Minneapolis
It’s my first day on the "tour road," and I’m in Minneapolis. Upon arrival I didn’t go to the hotel, did not pass go, went directly to the Mall of America (on the pretense of checking out the signing location, when in reality I wanted to try out my brand new credit card). It works!

My Bags are Packed!
My bags are packed, and I'm excited to start off the Hannah's List tour with a signing in Minneapolis. Just think about it–I'm beginning this tour at the largest shopping mall in America. Is this incredible or what?
Wayne lifted my suitcase, and it was so light he asked if I'd forgotten anything. I assured him I had everything I needed. What I might have failed to mention is that all I really need is my credit card.
I hope to see you soon!
Manatees and Fir Trees
I have yet to sit out on our patio for any length of time and fail to see either dolphins or manatees. Lately the manatees have been visiting our dock area. They are such lovely mammals and always cause a bit of excitement whenever Wayne and I see one. This morning we saw three!

A Helping Hand
I’ve said all along that the most generous, wonderful people read my books. Word came from the New York publicity agency that is handling the Knit 1, Bless 2 initiative that their office is filling up with stunningly beautiful baby items.

Clear Sailing
Wayne and I have signed up for a boat safety class this weekend. In my upcoming reader newsletter, under the Q&A section, I talk about how I’m a bit challenged in the area of docking a boat. The memory of me crashing the sailboat into the pier lingers in both Wayne’s and my mind. I still have nightmares of people screaming and running for their lives, jumping into the water in order to save themselves. (Okay, I tend to exaggerate . . . Read more
In Love with Pasta
One of our favorite restaurants in Vero Beach is changing its menu. Stella's serves Italian food and is changing over to more American fare. Seeing that this would be our last opportunity to enjoy their specialty Italian dishes, Wayne and I went to dinner with our good friends, Rhett and Barbara, last night. Although my grandparents are German/Russians who immigrated from the Baltic Sea area, I'm convinced there must be some Italian blood in me, because I love pasta so much. Then again, I'm a huge fan of Mexican and Chinese food, too. I guess I'
